Gaza Celebrates 'Earth Hour' Earth Hour is not an old tradition since it has been initiated only 9 years ago in Sydney city – Australia, 2007 but lately it is an international event where most countries all over the world celebrate this great event.
Amongst the international Earth Hour activities, NATUF for Environment & Community Development cooperate with the Arabic Youth movement for climate to carry out this international event at Gaza Sea Port on Saturday 19, March 2016.
The campaign has many goals through this activity such as energy saving, enhance the awareness of climate changes phenomenon, support the positive participation in society to protect the environment by turning off the lights and the unnecessary electronic equipment for one hour.
Although the hard and tough circumstances which the Palestinian live in and the continuous cutout of the electricity, both energetic persons and organizations seek to deliver Palestinian messages to show off the realistic life to the whole world that Gaza puts its own mark and impress the others by participating in such activities because we can play a distinctive role to change and save our planet on earth.
It is worth to mention that during the activity a painter draw on one of the walls at the seaport, which stands as a message for everyone to realize the importance to save our planet and to spread the awareness of the climate change effects.
Finally, it is a good and safe way to encourage the communities and individuals to reduce their consumption of using lights and electronic equipment, which effect on our planet negatively.
